Rated 5 out of 5 by AndyO from Genuine guarantee Bought push top bin in 2007. The package said 10 year guarantee, but I've learnt to take claims like that with a pinch of salt. After 7 years of constant use the lid stopped closing, was about to purchase a cheaper alternative then I remembered the guarantee. Thought I might have difficulty, but the web site had clear links to making a claim and I ordered this replacement catch - delivered free of charge and without questions in just a few days. Easy to fit and the bin works fine again. Can't fault service or the bin, I would have been happy with it lasting seven years, the extension to that that the new catch will give is a bonus! I would recommend Brabantia without question.

Rated 2 out of 5 by votin from Not built to last Unfortunately the plastic catch is prone to break due to fatigue as the 'claws' are too thin and have a weak point at the base - this seems to be a major design fault for an expensive bin. Brabantia currently replaces this small unit free of charge. The plastic supporting knob which the unit clasps to (keeping the lid shut) can also break and because it is integrated into the bin lid could be more costly to replace (mine is temporarily fixed with glue and a piece of supporting wood, but it looks ugly). These elements require better engineering: greater reinforcement or stronger materials in future designs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AlanJ from Great bin, shame about the catch I needed this new catch just six months after buying the new bin. The problem was that the old one had stuck in so that it would not latch with the post and keep the lid shut. I have to say that as soon as I contacted Brabantia on-line, their customer care could not have been better, and I received a new catch under the guarantee by return, plus an apology for the early failure. It is just a pity it was needed. Could I suggest that these bins are supplied with a few of these low-cost items and instructions how to fit them? That would surely be cheaper than having a customer service department supplying them free of change, perhaps several times during the life of the bin itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Marsy from Great idea I thought it was a great idea to have 3 different types of catch in one reasonably-priced package so you don't have to wrestle with which catch you need for your particular bin. And I was impressed with the speed of despatch. Having said that, when it arrived and we installed it we realised that the problem was not with the upper catch but the bottom part of the lid that the catch catches on to. A quick unearthing of the original receipt for our bin and we ordered a new replacement lid, which also was despatched with great speed. Perfect. Very impressed with Brabantia's customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bucks resident from Excellent service for such a low value spare part Despite a slight hiccup on the initial delivery time, the service received has been excellent. The catch on our kitchen bin went and we expected delivery of the replacement part approx 3 days after shipment. After 5days it had not been delivered so I rang the Customer Service Dept - the response was brilliant and another 'catch replacement kit' was posted to me. Two days later I received the initial order and its replacement came the following day.......so we now have a spare just in case it happens again! The bin is now as good as new once more. Very impressed with the quality of service

Like many families though it comes in for a fair hammering from the heavy handed children to the volume of use! The catch broke - for the second time. Not a problem really easy to swap over the catch in the unit. This is now the second one that we have replaced and expecting it to be a trend also acquired another to put in the drawer for a year or so down the line! One thought though strikes me - this must be common so surely it is a design fault or there could be a work around, other than teaching the 3 yr old not to hammer the bin lid so hard?!

The bin lid catch broke just before christmas and whilst it was within the 10 year guarantee we were unsure how easy this would actually be to replace. Thankfully the process was absolutely faultless. Logged onto the website and requested the replacement part. Despite the request being sent a couple of days before christmas, the part arrived within a week and was fitted with ease. Whilst the initial cost of the bin is quite expensive the product quality and after sales care make this brand superb and one I would strongly recommend. Thank you Brabantia.
