We thought on day one that this factor prevented proper closure but we are now convinced that whatever bag we use the lid always remains half an inch open. We now use a lightish weight to keep it closed. I choose a different colour from the traditional white and the Metallic Mint is a very good colour - and looks great in the kitchen. So far I've not been disappointed. It's a good sturdy bin, great colour and I loved the very quiet soft close loud. The one gripe I have is there is no handle on the inner plastic bin to pull it out when changing the bag. We had an older taller Brabantia bin but had to get a smaller one to fit under a new curved worktop. This bin ticked all the boxes and we love the soft closing lid.
