Brabantia acquires Spanish food enjoyment brand Lékué.

The parent company of international interior design brand Brabantia today announced the acquisition of Spanish brand Lékué. Barcelona-based Lékué offers innovative food enjoyment and on-the-go products. The Dutch multinational wants to accelerate its growth and expand its portfolio through this acquisition. Furthermore, Lékué offers Brabantia synergies in sales and logistics in Southern Europe.  Lékué will continue to exist as a brand after the acquisition. As a result, Brabantia will become a company that operates three different complementary brands. Brabantia intends to make further acquisitions in the years ahead in order to accelerate growth.

At present, Lékué's products are sold in 70 countries, with the focus on Southern Europe. Brabantia's strengths will help Lékué grow and expand its position in Northern European markets. By acquiring  Lékué Brabantia will be able to use its logistic hub in Southern Europe and this enables the company to accelerate growth in France and Spain.

The acquisition is part of our strategy to create an international brand platform in the middle and upper segment of the interior design and household products sector. And we intend to broaden that platform further in the future.”

So there is a good fit between our strategies and we have reached good agreements.”

Neither of the parties is willing to disclose the financial terms and conditions of the transaction. The two companies will make use of each other’s strengths. CEO Rafael Sebastián will retain day- to-day management control over Lékué.
