Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect service from Brabantia Let's face it, moving parts fail and the little plastic catch on a flip-top bin is no exception. However, the difference between any old flip-top bin and a Brabantia flip-top bin is that Brabantia provides a 10 year guarantee and honours it without quibble. Not many companies offer that level of customer service. A quick on-line form to complete, a declaration that my bin was under 10 years old and a few days later the replacement item is received nicely packaged from mainland Europe. Fitted in seconds with the help of clear instructions provided my bin is now like new again. Perfect service I'd say. Well done Brabantia

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No catch When our flip top bin stopped closing properly we thought that was it and that we'd have to replace the whole bin or at least the whole lid assembly but were pleased to find that the small plastic catch mechanism could be replaced individually. By following the simple instructions and using only a screwdriver we were able to replace the old catch pin which had bent with use and now are delighted to once again have a fully-functioning bin

I had to chase the order to be told it was taking 8 working days by post from Belgium. When it arrived the catch in the body of the bin was easily replaced however we are still trying to remove the lid catch when I will be able to review the item, as instructions are not good

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just not strong enough Brabantia is a byword for quality and I have a number of their products - all of which I have found to be excellent. The only area of dissatisfaction is the lid catch on my bin. Made of plastic, the catch is no doubt very effective in the laboratory but just cannot cope with regular family use. In the short time that I have owned my bin, I have had two catches broken on me. Love the bin; not impressed with the catch. Yep, that about sums it up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Replacement catch for lid unit Many thanks for sending the replacement catch for our bin lid. It was easy enough to take out the old and replace with the new. It is great to have a lid that closes again! Excellent customer service in terms of delivery and the part being FOC. However we are given 3 stars as the lid catch unit is still a significant design fault and the unit will definitely need to replaced again. If you dont close the lid with a very gentle push the catch simple doesnt work and the lid remains open. The two little springs pop back up into the catch and you have to coax them back into position in order to GENTLY close the lid again. As I said it is destined to work for a very short time which is disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea I thought it was a great idea to have 3 different types of catch in one reasonably-priced package so you don't have to wrestle with which catch you need for your particular bin. And I was impressed with the speed of despatch. Having said that, when it arrived and we installed it we realised that the problem was not with the upper catch but the bottom part of the lid that the catch catches on to. A quick unearthing of the original receipt for our bin and we ordered a new replacement lid, which also was despatched with great speed. Perfect. Very impressed with Brabantia's customer service.

The catch on our kitchen bin went and we expected delivery of the replacement part approx 3 days after shipment. After 5days it had not been delivered so I rang the Customer Service Dept - the response was brilliant and another 'catch replacement kit' was posted to me. Two days later I received the initial order and its replacement came the following we now have a spare just in case it happens again! The bin is now as good as new once more. Very impressed with the quality of service

The bin lid catch broke just before christmas and whilst it was within the 10 year guarantee we were unsure how easy this would actually be to replace. Thankfully the process was absolutely faultless. Logged onto the website and requested the replacement part. Despite the request being sent a couple of days before christmas, the part arrived within a week and was fitted with ease. Whilst the initial cost of the bin is quite expensive the product quality and after sales care make this brand superb and one I would strongly recommend. Thank you Brabantia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Customer Service We've had our bin for nearly 10 years now and it has be faultless all that time. When the catch finally gave up the ability to buy spares for under £5, rather than a new bin was brilliant. The catch came with a range of fittings for different models and variants of bin, detailed instructions and a small plastic tool (which broke, unfortunately) to remove the old one. Any part you could want is available, meaning that unless your bin suffers an accident with a steamroller you never need buy another. This level of customer service is second to none and has saved me £60+ for a new bin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great commitment to customer service slow postage Kudos to Brabantia for continuing to support their lifetime guarantee on their push-top bins. This was my fifth or sixth replacement part to address a design weakness in our kitchen bin. You can order the part online rather than queue to talk to customer support which is an improvement. However, shipping was very slow which you really notice when you have a bin that refuses to close... Given that this is a cheap to make part it wouldn't do any harm for Brabantia to send out a couple each time as we know that they will break. Is it possible to make a more long-lived version in metal?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Faulty but now sorted speedily and effectively The part to sort out the lack of the lid staying down and has been fitted - and it is back to full working status :) I now realise that there is /was a 10 year warranty so should have claimed on that especially as this is the second time the fault occurred!

It was very easy to replace as full instructions were included in the package. It was dispatched very quickly and the price of the catch is very reasonable. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

When the catch failed I looked up the Brabantia web site and was delighted to discover that I would be sent a replacement catch foc. This duly arrived 4 days later with very clear instructions, I replaced the catch in about 1 minute and look forward to another 7 years of excellent service. A real endorsement for buying top quality products with a brand that stands by its products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing service I've had my Brabantia bin for at least 5years and use it constantly.   The mechanism on the lid failed and I expected to have to buy another lid.  I rang the help line and was amazed at the prompt and professional way my call was dealt with and to my delight a new lid free of charge was forwarded to me by return.  Not a life changing experience I know but what a very refreshing change to not only have my call received by a human (none of the awful automated answer phones) but also to have my query sorted immediately at no cost to me.   Can't thankyou enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good as new !!!!!!! have had my bin for over 10 years so when the lid failed to close and i realised the catch had broken i was prepared to through the whole thing away. I went online to the Brabantia website to check the price of a new bin and noticed the section for replacement parts. Ordered a new catch, arrived within the week and was so easy to replace. Full instructions and all necessary parts were enclosed. So for just over £4 my bin is as good as new again !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prompt replacement part Having had my touch opening Brabantia bin for just over a year I found that the catch was not closing properly and I was concerned that I would not be able to rectify the problem easily. I went on the Brabantia website and easily identified my model of bin and the various parts that could be ordered in the event of a problem. I was able to order a new catch without having to go into great details about the problem or where and when I purchased the bin and was able to order a new one without charge. The catch was promptly delivered by the company and my lovely bin is now back to full working order. The bin has a ten year guarantee and I am very impressed with the efficiency of the company and the guarantee offered with their products.

I was expecting to have to replace the entire bin. I looked online at the brabantia web site and found that the binwas stil under guarantee and that the broken part was available.  I filled in the online order form and recieved an email to confirm the part was on order free of charge. The part arrived very quickly and included very clear instruction on how to replace the catch. I am very impressed by the support I received from Brabantia. Well done

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 50 Litre Bin - Back in Business The catch broke on my bin and my local supplier there was nothing they could do. They were looking to sell me a new Bin. However from looking online, I discovered that Brabantia sell these service parts. I ordered my parts and my Bin is like new. While looking online, I also discovered traders on EBay selling these parts for exhorbitant fees. Only while on EBay I saw a review telling me to go directly to Brabantia. Lucky for me. It's a pity the suppliers are slightly dishonest when they do not advise customers that Brabantia sell these parts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repair service Top marks to Brabantia for a very efficient service procedure when the catch on our bin stopped working within the warranty period. It turns out that after receiving the catch it didn't actually fix the problem, which was actually due to the striker becoming bent so that it didn't properly engage the catch. Bending it straight again appears to have fixed the problem, but I also know that if it breaks off I can quickly and easily get a replacement. How nice to find a company that takes the design and maintenance of its products seriously.

Found on the Brabantia website whilst looking for a replacement bin due to the broken catch and the cost of the replacement catch probably covers the postage only as it is so cheap. A brilliant little kit is supplied that includes the catch and the covers required for different bins plus a bespoke pair of plastic tweezers to aid removal. There is a little video on the website that demonstrates clearly how easy it is to remove and replace the catch. The original catch has lasted longer than 10 years which is a testament to its quality.

The catch went recently, well I thought I'd try that first, but also noticed you could order a whole new lid if need be!! Unlike other brands if things break that's it, new bin needed, but not with Brabantia and that's what I love and makes them stand out from the rest. Ordered catch, came within a few days and luckily for me to was the catch that had broke, phew!! A new catch 3 times in 15 years I think that shows what good quality you invest in with Brabantia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to fit and completely solved the problem The catch on the bin lid had stopped working and I finally got round to looking on the Brabantia website to see if it was possible to buy a new lid, rather than having to replace the bin. I was very pleased to see that it was possible to buy the catch on it;s own, and even more pleased when I discovered that even though I have had the bin for about 5 years, the part is covered by a 10 year warranty. The new catch took a week or so to arrive as it is posted from Belgium, but the instructions that came with it are very clear and replacing the catch is a 2 minute job. Looking at the old part it is clear that it is not very strong, and I suspect the new one will go the same way eventually. But if this one gives me another 5 years service I will be pleased.

I visited the Brabantia website to see if I could purchase a replacement lid but hey presto... I could buy a replacement catch instead. Very easy to order, very quick to arrive and contained full instructions to replace. There was even a video to watch which explained exactly what you had to do to fit the new catch. Goes to prove that if you buy a quality product, you will receive quality after-sales service. Thank You, Brabantia

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Catch for lid to waste bin We bought our bin 2-3years ago. It's been great and the lid catch is the first thing to go wrong. The replacement part arrived promptly and was easy to fit.   However, after 5 days, it is not working as efficiently as the original did and I fear it will go again in the very near future.  I believe the design of the catch has changed since our model, maybe this is the reason. I think I may have to replace the whole lid to get the unit to work properly although there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it other than the catch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great touch trash bin! I bought my Brabantia touch kitchen trash bin about 25 years ago. Several months ago the claw on the catch snapped off. I checked the Internet for the product, easily found it, and ordered a new catch. When it came I hadn't completely removed the old catch and I couldn't get the new one to install. I contacted customer service and was told to removed a piece still inside. When I did that, the new catch slipped in effortlessly and it won't be long before my trash can has another birthday! Couldn't be more pleased with the product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good experience Have had a Brabantia touch lid bin since they were first made. Have lost count of the number of times parts have needed replacing. This time it needed new clips so decided quickest way would be to purchase online. Credit card was stopped as it looked like a "suspicious online transaction to a firm based abroad". Part took ages to arrive, from Belgium. In the meantime bin in kitchen could not be closed. Not hygienic, especially in summer. A couple of weeks later, whole lid has now packed up and does not open or close properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Touch Bin Lid I bought a 50ltr touch bin, (Brilliant Steel), , I've had it for 5 years, the lid stopped working, (would not stay down), I ordered a new catch for the lid which arrived 3 days after the order was placed, I have now found that it's not the lid catch that's at fault but the part in the lower portion of the lid, a fixed stud that inserts itself into the bin lid catch that is broken, to change the whole lid is going to cost me £34.80p, not cost affective. I have noticed that on your nerwer models the bottom catch can be changed.

Explanation of piece needed was very good and I chose correctly from this information. Soon arrived in post and I immediately fitted piece and now have a super closing bin!
