Brabantia is great with waste. Even when we product it ourselves. Our factories in Belgium, China and Latvia obviously comply with legislation, but in addition, we have also invested a lot in less polluting production techniques and water purification. At the moment, we have 99% of the water discharges below half of the discharge standard. We believe this should be 100% in 2020. And the years afterwards also, of course.
Brabantia uses green energy sources, such as solar panels and wind energy, as far as possible. Our aim is to achieve 100% renewable energy in 2050. Renewable energy is energy that comes from natural sources that are constantly supplemented.
We are also hard at work reducing non-renewable energy use wherever possible.
At Brabantia, we love recycling. We process as many recycled materials as possible in our products. For instance, no less than 50% of our newIcon pedal bin is made from recycled material.
We would like to recycle with you. Do you have a Brabantia product you want to get rid of? We advise you to take it to your local recycling centre.
CRADLE TO CRADLE MEANS...
The Cradle to Cradle Institute assesses products on material quality, material recycling, the use of renewable energy and carbon management, water management and social justice.
The certificates are reviewed every two years. In order to keep the C2C certificate, we need to continuously try to improve our products on these points.
100% of the products Brabantia produces itself, must be certified Cradle-to-Cradle at Bronze level. At present, 90% of our products are certified.
