3. Know what you are ironing
You can iron some fabrics, such as cotton and linen, at a high temperature. Other fabrics, like wool and synthetics, are best ironed on a lower temperature. Not sure? Look at the washing instructions in the garment. The dots in the iron icon indicate how hot this piece can be ironed: one dot means a maximum of 110 degrees, two dots 150 degrees and three dots 200 degrees. A cross through the iron means that you should not iron the garment at all.
